How we work outside Mexico

As part of the PMI International group

GIS Power is the Mexican energy operations subsidiary of the PMI International group, headquartered in Tampa. Projects outside Mexico are developed through the group’s structure and, when the project calls for it, as joint ventures, as at Baker’s Bay.

Regulation, permits and interconnection change from country to country. The method does not: solar with BESS as primary power where it makes sense, mission-critical redundancy and an operations team accountable for availability.

When it is not a fit

  • When the project needs a local contractor for minor civil works: the group comes in where there is engineering, power and long-term operations.
  • When the country does not allow private on-site generation and there is no interested public counterparty.

Frequently asked questions

Does GIS Power develop projects outside Mexico?

Yes, as part of the PMI International group. The group has projects in the United States, the Bahamas and Brazil, in addition to Mexico.

Where are your offices?

In Mexico City, Querétaro, León and Tampa, Florida.

How are ESI, PMI and GIS Power related?

They are one line: ESI began operations in Tampa in 1983, PMI was formed in 2001 with the acquisition of ESI, and GIS Power in 2014. That is why the project history is presented as the group’s.
