About

Large-scale power, built on a critical-infrastructure lineage

Green Island Solutions, S.A. de C.V. (GIS Power) is the Mexican energy operations subsidiary of PMI International Group. We develop, finance, build and operate energy projects with solar and battery storage (BESS) as primary power, and cogeneration where the site has a thermal load.

Who we are

Engineer, Design & Build of Critical Power Solutions

The group started in 1983 building data centers and critical power plants for companies such as GTE, PwC and Telemar, and for Terminal 2 at Mexico City’s airport. That mission-critical discipline, where power cannot be interrupted, is the basis of what we do today.

In Mexico, the group developed more than 56 MW of cogeneration, including three firsts: the first data center with cogeneration in Mexico (Alestra, Querétaro), the first Green and Sustainable Industrial Park (Cuadritos, Celaya) and the first self-supply power permit for a residential and commercial development (Bosque Real, 2009).

GIS Power brings that experience to today’s scale: generation projects for industrial parks, data centers, industry, developers and governments, structured in a project company and backed by long-term contracts.

What we do

One accountable party, from feasibility to operation

Solar and BESS as primary power
01

Utility-scale generation

Solar parks, hybrids with battery storage (BESS), gas-fired generation and islanded microgrids.

02

Green Data Center

Data centers with solar and BESS as primary power, the grid and gas as backup, built in phases.

03

Cogeneration

Power, steam and chilled water where the site has a steady thermal load.

04

Development and finance

Project company (SPV), permits and energy contracts of 48 to 180 months, depending on the structure.

05

Engineering and construction

Full EPC: design, procurement, civil works, installation and commissioning.

06

Operations and maintenance

Long-term operation with contractual availability.

Group history

Since 1983

One line from the start: power for facilities that cannot stop.

  1. 1983

ESI (Environmental Solution Inc.) starts operations in Tampa, Florida.

  2. 2001

PMI (Power Management International) is formed through the acquisition of ESI.

  3. 2004

PMI establishes itself in Mexico as PME (Power Management Engineering).

  4. 2014

GIS Power: cogeneration and large-scale generation in Mexico.

  5. 2019

GTO Energy CO, in León, Guanajuato.

Four decades of continuous work: mission-critical first, power plants next

Investment in each group project by delivery year. Below, plants and studies with no published amount.

Takeaway

The group has never stopped building: from 1993 to 2006, data centers and critical facilities in the US, Brazil and Mexico; since 2009, on-site power plants.

Alestra (2014) joins both stories: a data center with its own generation. It is the direct precedent of Green Data Center.

PMI International and GIS Power track records. The 13 mission-critical facilities total USD 317 M; other projects are not counted in that figure. BBVA Lago Esmeralda: design of a USD 250 M project, not group-executed investment.

One group, two specialties. GTO Energy designs, installs and maintains energy systems for companies that want to own their plant. GIS Power develops, finances and operates industrial- and utility-scale projects.
