D · Operations and maintenance
A plant is worth what it delivers every day
GIS Power operates and maintains power plants 24/7, with availability set in the contract. It is the stage that sustains a project’s payments over its whole life, and the one a lender reviews most closely.

Operation with a measurable commitment
Availability is agreed, measured and reportedA GIS Power operation and maintenance contract sets the availability the plant must deliver, how it is measured and what happens if it falls short. With that, the plant owner, the energy user and the lender know what to expect and how to verify it.
We operate what we build: solar plants with storage (BESS), hybrids, cogeneration and engine plants. We can also take over the operation of an existing plant, after assessing its condition.
When it is not a fit
- If your plant is small and your in-house team already runs it well, with the manufacturer’s support.
- If you only want corrective repairs when something breaks: this service is built on prevention and an availability commitment.
- If the plant has no metering or controls to verify availability: those have to be installed first.
Scope
What operation and maintenance includes
One party accountable24/7 operation
On-site shifts or remote supervision, depending on the plant and the contract.
Preventive maintenance
A program by operating hours and by manufacturer, for engines, inverters, batteries and electrical equipment.
Corrective maintenance
Fault response with agreed response times.
Spare parts
Critical stock on site and supply through brand-authorized commercial partners.
Monitoring
Plant controls and metering to operate it and verify availability.
Compliance
Tracking of permit, interconnection and environmental obligations.
Asset management
Thinking about the plant’s whole lifeRunning the plant well today is half the job. The other half is planning engine overhauls, battery and inverter replacements and expansions, so the plant keeps meeting its contract until the last month.
- Start-up
Commissioning, performance tests and handover with the plant’s baseline.
- Operation
Availability, energy delivered and fuel use measured every month.
- Major maintenance
Overhauls and replacements scheduled in advance, with their financial reserve.
- End of contract
Renewal, transfer of the plant under a BOOT, or decommissioning, depending on the model.
Reporting
For the owner, the user and the lender| Report | What it contains | For whom |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly operations | Availability, energy generated and delivered, fuel, events and faults | Owner and energy user |
| Maintenance | Work completed, scheduled and pending; spare parts | Plant owner |
| Contract performance | Agreed indicators against measured results | Owner, user and lender |
| Compliance | Permit, interconnection and environmental obligations | Owner and lender |
The content and frequency of each report are set in the operation and maintenance contract.

Huixquilucan · 2009 · EPC + O&M 2009–2016At Bosque Real, the group carried out the engineering, installation and commissioning of a 7.5 MW plant on isolated supply, as well as its operation and maintenance from 2009 to 2016. With no grid behind it, the plant has to be available every day: it is still operating today and is the homes’ electricity supply.

Frequently asked questions
What availability do you guarantee?
The level agreed in each contract, based on the technology, the plant’s redundancy and what the load needs. The contract defines how it is measured and what happens if it is not met.
Can you operate a plant you did not build?
Yes, after assessing its condition, maintenance history and controls. If needed, what is necessary is fixed first so that an availability level can be committed.
Is operation included in a PPA?
Yes. In the models where the SPV invests (PPA, energy as a service and BOOT), operation and maintenance are included. If your company buys the plant, they are contracted separately.
How long is an operating contract?
It usually runs alongside the energy contract: from 48 to 180 months, depending on the scheme.
